Wool, corduroy and chinos

Tailored cloth starts with Acne Studios: the AW15 Aron in gray tweed woven by the British mill Moon, knit check wool pairs and, for women, the cropped Milli in wool with cashmere. Corduroy comes from Acne Studios, Norse Projects and Our Legacy, whose Chino 22 is in wide-wale cord. Chinos include Acne Studios Max Satin and a cropped Tom Ford-era Gucci pair with a gold-tone horsebit, while Loro Piana's red nautical print and Dior moiré jacquard with tuxedo-style satin stripes bring pattern. Leather, suede and cargo

Most leather pairs are built like jeans, with five pockets and a zip or button fly: vintage Levi's in black leather and caramel suede, Polo Ralph Lauren calf suede, a Purple Label pair in lambskin and Gucci's high-waisted red suede from the 1990s. Are the leather trousers lined?

Some are: a few vintage Levi's pairs in a nylon and acetate blend and the Gucci red suede in rayon viscose, which helps them slide on and keeps the leather off the skin. Each pair is examined in-house by our team before listing, from hide and seams to zip and labels.

Which pairs have an adjustable waist?

The Polo Sport suede trousers and Dries Van Noten's striped summer cotton close with a drawstring, an Acne Studios knit check pair has an elasticated waistband and the Prada Milano AW2009 fleece trousers add an inner adjuster. The NikeLab ACG cargos have an integrated adjustable belt.

What does Layer 3 mean on Nike ACG ski pants?
