Beyond the sunglasses

Frames are listed separately under Sunglasses; the rest sorts into five groups:

• Bags and small leather goods: Louis Vuitton Avenue Slings in coated canvas, a top-handle LV in Monogram canvas with Vachetta trim, and a white Celine lambskin phone pouch.
• Jewelry: a purple Bottega Veneta Intrecciato bracelet, a chunky stainless-steel Dolce & Gabbana ring and round cufflinks from the same house, set with black enamel.

What we check on accessories

On small pieces the evidence sits in small details, so our team goes over each one in-house before listing: buckles, snaps, zips and their engraving; heat stamps and embossed or embroidered logos; stitch length along edges and straps; linings and inner labels; and the canvas, leather or knit against its composition tag.

FAQ

How much of this section is vintage?

A large share. Y2K Chanel and Gucci frames, the nylon Prada caps and the Fendi Zucca belt are older pieces, also listed in Vintage. The cashmere beanies and the Avenue Slings are not in it.

Which accessories are unisex?

Most sunglasses, many beanies and scarves and some bucket hats are listed under both For Him and For Her. Belts lean women's, while Louis Vuitton's Avenue Slings are listed for men.

Why is the Vachetta trim on a vintage Louis Vuitton darker?

Vachetta is untreated cowhide, so light, handling and skin oils turn it from pale beige to honey brown. An even patina on handles and trim is normal aging; water spots, cracks or torn stitching are damage, not patina.
