Fill, shell and cut

Goose down fills several pieces, from the Burberry Brit puffer with its Nova Check lining to the Nike ACG parka with a splatter print, while the matte black Sandro Paris puffer uses a duck down and feather mix. Shells are mainly nylon or polyester. Cuts run from a long quilted vintage Moncler to a Prada nylon puffer with a dyed fox fur hood and a sleeveless Stone Island vest in Pertex Quantum Y. Wool coats, trench coats and other layers are in Outerwear.

What are the signs of a tired down jacket?

Flat or uneven loft in the baffles, feathers pushing through the shell, torn or resewn seams and zips that snag; the care label gives the fill. Our team checks labels, stitching and hardware in-house before listing, and the photos record what we found.
