Trench coats, rain coats and wool

Burberry makes up the biggest share: trench coats with cuff straps and Balmacaan-style rain coats with raglan sleeves and fly fronts, all lined in Nova Check and made in England, several labeled Burberrys Prorsum. Prada brings technical fabrics: a women's Trench Donna in nylon with a throat latch and a Linea Rossa coat in a polyester and Kevlar blend. Checking a vintage trench coat

On an older trench, start with the labels and the fabric content tag, then look at the lining, the buttons, the cuff straps and whether the original belt is still there. Cotton-blend shells tend to fade across the shoulders and collar and fray at the cuffs and hem, so those are the places to study in the photos. Each listing states a condition grade.

What is a Balmacaan coat?

It is a loose, single-breasted coat with raglan sleeves and a short collar, usually closed with a concealed button front. The Burberrys rain coats here are cut in this style.

Do vintage coats fit like current ones?
