Versace frames and their MOD numbers

Versace prints a model number, often as MOD, inside a temple; it is the quickest way to identify a frame. Among the sunglasses here:

• Marked Gianni Versace: the 413/B in ivory and in clear acetate, and a 1996 gunmetal MOD X36.
• Rimless and shield: MOD 2026, the burgundy MOD 2027, MOD 2034 with open temples, and MOD 2113 and 2132.
• Crystal and Greca: MOD 4041, the rimless N29 with crystal-set arms, a Gold Edition MOD 4308-B, MOD 2257 with Greca cut-outs and MOD 1030-B optical frames.

Baroque prints, Medusa and tailoring

Versace Jeans Couture brings shirts printed with Baroque scrolls and gold chains, in silk and viscose. A satin-finish Medusa Flame shirt and a 2019 pleated silk mini skirt sit beside a Fendace shirt mixing Fendi's FF with Versace Baroque. For men: black and navy cotton shirts with an oversized embroidered Medusa, a white zip hoodie whose back carries a gold Medusa, a Gianni Versace wool cardigan edged in Greca and a linen-blend blazer lined in Medusa jacquard. Why is a Versace frame called Biggie?

The nickname refers to The Notorious B.I.G., who wore Gianni Versace sunglasses with round Medusa medallions in the 1990s. The name now covers frames in that style, from the vintage MOD 413/B to the later MOD 4446.

Why do some labels read Gianni Versace?

Gianni Versace founded the house in Milan in 1978, and early labels and frames carry his full name. It often marks an older piece, but the name alone does not date an item: the 2019 silk skirt is listed under it too.

What wear is common on printed Versace silk?
